Finalist, Edgar Allan Poe Award Finalist, Arthur Miller Institute Prize Simon Baatz, born in London and educated at York, first moved to the United States to study the history of science at the University of Pennsylvania. He taught American Studies at universities in Britain before taking up a research position in the history of medicine at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. In 2006 he moved to New York to teach American history at CUNY. Harbor Lights Productions, a film and television production company based in Malibu, has signed an agreement to develop a motion picture based on his history of the Leopold-Loeb case, For the Thrill of It (HarperCollins, 2008).
